Rip’s Bio

Rip is out of Malm Border Collies from Wyoming. He comes from a long line of working stock dogs. His dam’s side is out of Mill Iron S Ranch. They pride themselves on producing STRONG WORKING border collies. His sire’s side includes J.R. Red, who was the Reserve Nursery National Champion 2010 and inducted into the National Cattledog Association Hall of Fame in 2018.

Rip’s temperament is gentle in nature and friendly with a nice off-switch. He is one of the sweetest dogs that I have ever met. There isn’t a soul that he just doesn’t love.

Our favorite thing about Rip is watching his strong drive come out on sheep. But even when he’s working stock, Rip is quiet and focused.

In the fall of 2023, Rip was sent to Desiree with Go West Border Collies in Helena to be professionally trained on stock. He stayed with her until deemed lightly started. At the start of 2024, Rip left again to Eastern Montana to continue his training and build onto his herding foundations. He will be working with a young stock dog trainer as she begins to forge her own program intended to breed and train stock dogs.

The investment into Rip’s training and future not only sets him up for success, but it adds value to the program we are building here at North Fork Border Collies. We are confident in his future endeavors and thrilled to see him flourish.

Working stock

Rip is a proven stud and has previously sired a couple litters. His offspring have gone on to working homes and have been successful on stock.
